It's been two years since I started this international community.

The reason was simple β€” I wanted to make Taipei more fun. Because I'd felt a little lonely in this city myself.

Our vision β€” for people in Taipei to truly know each other. Not just hang out, but actually become friends!

That's exactly why I partnered with Captain Mike. I've been running social events in Taipei for two years β€” I know what it's like to want to go somewhere β€” and have no one to go with.

Beyond the Horizon was built for you. Book and you're in the crew group immediately. Meet everyone at a Taipei Social Night before you leave β€” by the time you reach the dock, you're already friends.

You don't need to bring anyone. Just show up.
Can I join on my own?+
Absolutely. This is designed for solo travellers and small groups. You'll be added to the crew WhatsApp group once your reservation is confirmed.
How do I start meeting everyone after I sign up?+
Once your payment is complete, you'll join this month's WhatsApp crew group and start meeting fellow sailors from all over the world right away.

The group is primarily in English, with a Chinese-language group also available β€” whichever you're more comfortable with, you won't be left out.
Can I change my session?+
We'll do our best to help β€” just reach out as early as possible. The sooner you ask, the better the chances. We can't guarantee a swap, but we'll always try.
What if the weather is bad β€” or something comes up?+
Weather: If conditions aren't safe for sailing, we'll reschedule you to another session first.

Payment peace of mind: Today you only pay the reservation fee NT$1,480; the boat fee NT$2,700 is paid to the captain only after your session is confirmed β€” so there are no additional charges before that.

Personal cancellation: The reservation fee NT$1,480 is non-refundable β€” your ebooks, crew group, and Social Night Pass are delivered the moment you sign up, and valid through end of September.

Non-refundable β€” your ebooks, crew group, and Social Night Pass are delivered the moment you sign up and valid through end of September (join trips in the group through end of September; NT$50 off every Social Night).

Boat fee NT$2,700 (paid to Captain Mike):
Paid to the captain in the group only after your session is confirmed, with a receipt available. No charges before that.

Taipei Weekend Social and Captain Mike partner together but each handles their own portion β€” separately, transparently, and with full integrity.
How do I get there without a car?+
No problem! Your ebook arrives right after booking, with a complete transport guide.

Easiest option: take the 1877 Kuo-Kuang bus from Yuanshan or Nangang MRT β€” 90 minutes direct to Wushi Harbor, then a 10-minute walk.

Also, if your session reaches 8 sailors, we can help arrange a paid private shuttle from Taipei β€” split among the group, it's quite affordable. Details in the crew group.
Will I get seasick?+
Take motion sickness medication an hour before departure. Sailboats are far smoother than speedboats β€” most people are completely fine.
Can I join if I can't swim?+
Absolutely. Life jackets are provided and guest liability insurance is included β€” no extra cost. Water activities are completely optional. Sitting on deck and taking in the view is a perfectly great way to spend the day.
How many people will be on board?+
Each session sets sail with a minimum of 8 people, up to 20. If we don't fill all spots, we'll merge with Captain Mike's other guests β€” you'll still meet new people either way.
How do you decide if the weather is too bad to sail?+
Captain Mike makes the call based on sea conditions, and I'll notify you in the crew group right away. With his years of experience, cancellations are rare β€” but when the ocean says no, we listen.
What's the story behind the chicken on your logo?+
Last year I read a book β€” A Sailor, A Chicken, An Incredible Voyage.

The main character, Guirec, sailed alone β€” afraid of loneliness β€” so he brought a hen named Monique to keep him company across the ocean.

That story stayed with me. I wanted to carry that same spirit into Beyond the Horizon.
